CIMS hosts Veronica Meija Bustamante visit.

Dr. Veronica Meija Bustamante, VP at JP Morgan-Chase, gave a presentation to the CIMS REU in Industrial Mathematics and Statistcs on “Applications of Data Science in Finance” on July 12, 2019. The talk was open to all of the NSF-funded REU students on campus as well as WPI undergraduate student researchers.



REU Students Present Findings at Pfizer Inc.

Students in the CIMS REU in Industrial Mathematics and Statistics made their final presentation at their industrial sponsor, Pfizer Inc. in Cambridge, MA on July 11, 2019. The team is advised by Dr. Simone Cassani and Prof. Suzanne Weekes.

REU 2019 students took part in WPI’s TouchTomorrow  where they put together a presentation on the applications of Bayes theorem and talked to visitors about different types of ciphers.

REU 2019 Begins

On May 20, 2019 students from around the US began their 9-week Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Industrial Mathematics and Statistics, supported by the National Science Foundation.  Students work with faculty on real-world projects provided by business, industry or government.   Projects this year are provided by the Pfizer and GE Aviation, US.

Junior Rob Wondolowski wins Scholarship from Boston Chapter of Financial Executives International

Actuarial Science major Rob Wondolowski earned a scholarship from from the Boston Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI). The  scholarships are awarded to outstanding students studying economics, accounting, finance, or actuarial mathematics, and who are planning a career in finance. This is the seventh year that WPI has had at least on FEI winner.
