As we cross the halfway point here at WPI, the HIRO lab is hard at work! We are designing human motion studies to learn more about how humans interact with their environment, and how they teleoperate robots to interact with the environment for them.

Intern Renee is the captain of the Vicon Motion Capture station

Renee has been helping us set up and calibrate the mocap system, as well as process the data after trials.

Alexandra has EMG sensors recording her deltoid muscle activity while teleoperating Baxter.

Alexandra has Delsys EMG + IMU sensors on the deltoid muscle to measure muscle activation during teleoperation.

Baxter was able to open a door, with the help of teleoperation.

Operating the arms one-at-a-time using a game controller, we were able to get Baxter to clumsily open the supply closet.
