WPI’s Water Resource Center

Several faculty at WPI (including Professor Deskins) join together in the Water Resource Center to lead efforts in water preservation.

More Arepas

Juan’s wife was kind enough to cook up arepas for many of us. Good stuff!

Enjoying Arepas

At the national AIChE meeting in San Francisco this year myself, Juan, and his family enjoyed arepas from a local restaurant. The pictures don’t do justice to how good these taste.

Annual AICHE Meeting

The meeting in Pittsburgh was very good despite the hurricane! Several presentations were made based on work from the group. Juan received a Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Division Travel Award (which included a very nice meal). He also gave a great talk at the meeting.

NSF Funding

Prof. Deskins has been awarded two grants from the National Science Foundation, along with colleagues Drs. Xiaowei Teng of the University of New Hampshire and Anatoly Frenkel of Yeshiva University. The work will study Pd- and Ir-based alloys as potential ethanol oxidation catalysts in direct ethanol fuel cells.
