Elizabeth DiLoreto received a Genetics Society of America Poster Award in the Neurobiology category at the 24th International C. elegans Meeting.

Graduate Research and Innovation Exchange: April 2023

Elizabeth DiLoreto was awarded second place in the Life Sciences and Bioengineering category for her presentation at the Graduate Research and Innovation Exchange.

3MT: March 2023

Elizabeth DiLoreto presented at the Three Minute Thesis competition and came in second for her work on feeding neuropeptides to C. elegans via bacteria.

Caroline Muirhead was awarded third place in the Life Sciences and Bioengineering category for her presentation at the Graduate Research and Innovation Exchange.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP): April 2022

Elizabeth DiLoreto was recognized as an Honorable Mention for her application to the Life Sciences- Neuroscience division of the NSF GRFP.

Caroline Muirhead presented at the Three Minute Thesis competition and came in second for her work investigating decision making in worms.

MQP BCB Provost’s Award:  AY2020-2021

Kathryn Nippert, Emily Stead, and Luigi Apollon won the Provost’s Award for outstanding MQP research as a demonstration of excellence for the entire Chemistry and Biochemistry department. They were jointly advised by Drs. Jagan Srinivasan, Angela Rodriguez, and Carissa Olsen. One award is given to each department per year and is decided by the respective academic department representatives.

Board of Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Research and Creative Scholarship: February 2021

Jagan Srinivasan was recognized by the Board of Trustees’ at WPI at the annual 2020 faculty awards to honor young faculty for excellence in teaching, advising, and research.

Sigma Xi Graduate Research Award: April 2020

Douglas Reilly was nominated by those he has worked with and recognized by Sigma Xi for outstanding research in a doctoral dissertation.

3MT: March 2018

Both Chris Chute and Doug Reilly presented at the 3-Minute Thesis Competition at WPI. Doug got second place and Chris was selected for the People’s Choice award.

Gordon Research Conference: June 2017

At the Gordon Research Conference in Neuroethology: Behavior, Evolution, & Neurobiology, Douglas Reilly was awarded the Best Graduate Student Poster.

Doug Reilly was awarded first place at the PhD level for his presentation at the Graduate Research and Innovation Exchange Poster Symposium.

Doug Reilly was an Honorable mention for Teaching Assistant of the academic year 2016-2017.

NSF NELSAMP Research Fellowship: Summer 2016

The Northeast Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NE LSAMP) group receives funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to: “strengthen the preparation, representation, and success of historically under-represented minority students in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields… The program is designed to implement and enhance programs that encourage and support students in the STEM fields. Support is offered in the form of research opportunities, pre-college and college academic preparation, and graduate school programs…” WPI undergraduate Angelica Pollard-Knight was awarded a research opportunity in the Srinivasan Lab for the summer of 2016 funded by the NE LSAMP and was able to work on exploring the effects of natural extracts on Alzheimer’s induced C. elegans.

MQP BBT Provost’s Award:  AY2015-2016

For the 2015-2016 academic year, the Srinivasan Lab MQP project, completed by Veronica Coyle ’16, Veroniki Nikolaki ’16, and Florentia Ong ’16, won the Provost’s Award for outstanding MQP research as a demonstration of excellence for the entire Biology and Biotechnology department. One award is given to each department per year and is decided by the respective academic department representatives.

Sigma Xi Outstanding Research for a Junior Faculty: 2016

On May 4th, 2016, Dr. Srinivasan received an award for outstanding research as a junior faculty member of Sigma Xi WPI Chapter. The award was presented by Professor Germano Innacchione who presides as the secretary for the chapter.
