Caroline’s Crushing It!

Caroline’s Crushing It!

Caroline is on a roll this year! After passing her qualifying exam this fall she’s been crushing the research game.  In December, she applied to participate in the Graduate Research Innovation Exchange (GRIE) at WPI. This is a program that promotes the sharing of graduate research across departments at WPI. After the initial presentation online in February, Caroline’s 7 minute presentation was selected for the finals on April 5, 2022.

In person, Caroline presented her thesis work to a panel of judges and competed with other graduate students studying Life Sciences and Bioengineering. She placed 3rd in her category! Her innovative work in studying how genetic sex governs sex-specific behavior in C. elegans has implications not only within the worm field but could also inform why sex-differences occur in the development of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.

P.S. She came in 2nd in last year’s competition!
